This Week in Kpop: November 8-14, 2015

Even with a big album release from VIXX and an excellent music video in "Chained Up," this week in Kpop is all about looking to the future.

2NE1 to Return on 11/21! Or is it a sub-group? Or just CL?

If you haven't heard all the rumors surrounding this one, then be glad. Fans of 2NE1 have not been too happy with the rumors and limited information being released. We've known that CL has been waiting to release an album (in America) all year, but a 2NE1 comeback would have quelled a lot of fears that one of Kpop's biggest groups was on the verge of disbanding. Well, those fears haven't been quelled, but they certainly haven't been confirmed either. It looks like we're just going to have to wait and see what happens. Kpop fans are great at that, amiright?

Honestly, even with the terrible uncertainty of the 2NE1 rumors, next week is shaping up to be a great one. We've got teasers coming in from EXID and Purfles (remember them?), and on the men's side, B.A.P (remember them?) and iKon! Whatever your allegiances, next week should be one to remember!

Music Core to abolish ranking system starting November 21

You're welcome, everyone. It seems that Zander Stachniak's scathing, four-part review of Kpop music shows produced some immediate results! Okay, maybe it's a coincidence, but we're excited to see how the removal of the ranking system affects the show. We're bullish!

VIXX Returns with "Chained Up"

VIXX returned this week, and Helen Edworthy was there to give a full review of their latest music video. Suits and shoulder wiggles, suits and shoulder wiggles. Check out the full review here, friends!

Exo Collaborates with Star Wars

Okay, no, it's not their best release ever. But if you're jonesing for some Star Wars, then you're definitely going to start singing along with Exo's "Lightsaber." Watch the guys of Exo wander around hotels and supermarkets swinging around the hilts of their lightsabers. No, they don't unsheathe the plasma blades, but we definitely got a kick out of out of the sign in the bar that read "concealed sabers are prohibited in this facilty." We want more!

D.Holic Returns with "Murphy & Sally"

We loved D.Holic's last release, and now they're back with "Murphy & Sally," an upbeat club beat with a positive message: never give up! The song isn't likely to eclipse "Chewy," but there's no denying that D.Holic has had a strong year!

The Critical Kpop Podcast Returns as a Trio!

We're excited that Sarah is back on the program to save Tim and Zander from certain Kpop doom. On this episode, the crew talks about BIGBANG's concert experience and new music from f(x), Brown Eyed Girls, and Zico! Tune in!

November 8-14, 2015

And that will do it for this week in Kpop! What did you think of VIXX? Okay, okay, enough already. Let's stop talking about it last week and start looking forward to next week! Have fun and be safe!
